Our guided rides are organised sessions led by a professional guide or instructor. They suit all levels; from beginner trail riders to seasoned experts and complete newcomers looking for an introduction to the lifts and trails.
We use the best mountain guides (locally) and they have an in-depth knowledge of the best trails for your ability. They will have you grinning from ear to ear, whatever your level! You never know, you may even learn a thing or two at the same time…
Guided rides run for a half day or full day session and we try not to mix abilities, so everyone can ride at their preferred pace. Our Active Reps can help you book them privately, or we can help put a group together of other interested guests to help share the cost. For a group of 8 to 10 riders, the cost will be from €25-€30 pp for half a day. For two riders, the cost will be about €125 each for half a day.
Our guests opt for a professional guide for many reasons: Beginner riders use them to learn how to use the lifts and to get comfortable with the trails. Others use a guide to develop their riding or for long-distance cross country tours like the Portes du Soleil circuit, or the Tignes circuit.
It is recommended that you are comfortable riding dirt trails on a hard-tail bike before taking part in a guided ride. If you are interested in booking a guided ride, your Alpine Elements Active Rep or hotel reception can organise this for you. They’ll even try to get a group together to help share the cost and make it a more sociable day out.
If you want to make the most of the mountain biking in resort (using the lifts) and you wish to take part in a guided ride, then we would recommend you rent a full suspension bike for the day, such as the Specialized Enduro Evo or Nukeproof, which we offer using our local (recommended) suppliers. We recommend booking in advance as availability can be limited.
The guides we use are all expert and semi-professional, certified mountain bike coaches and/or mountain guides. They love their sport, and they like to share the knowledge and impart their technical skill base to any of our guests, especially if you make it known to them that you would like to learn more.
Riding the Alps with a guide is crucial if you would like to gain a true insight into the real potential of any resort; and recommended if you are using the lift system as a complete beginner. So much of the best bike terrain is hidden from public maps. Your guide will introduce you to the secret spots that only a local knows and fast-track you to the best riding for your ability. Guaranteed smiles all round!
You are of course welcome to explore the local terrain by yourself, we simply ask that you ride with at least one other person and inform our staff of your intended route and ETA. Using a guide for at least your first half-day riding is a great way to learn about mountain safety and the lifts. We would always recommend this.
