Summer ski & board

Skiing and boarding on a summer glacier is a real novelty and the snow conditions can be just as good as winter!  You can pack a lot into your day with a ski in the morning followed by a resort based activity in the afternoon such as tennis... mountain biking... rafting... paddleboarding… or just enjoying the sun. Our southern alpine glacier resorts enjoy over 300 days of sunshine a year.

You’ll want to visit the largest glaciers in the French Alps to get the best conditions and the widest range of activities. Tignes, Val d’Isere and Les 2 Alpes are at 3,500m; and have 20 to 30km of runs open from June to August.

  • Tignes glacier: June 20 to Aug 2, 2020
  • Les 2 Alpes glacier: June 22 to Aug 8, 2020

What to expect

Tignes, Val d’Isere and Les 2 Alpes are home to the best ski-able glaciers in Europe. They also offer a wide variety of exciting resort activities for alpinists and families, so you can ski in the morning (between 8.00am to 1pm) and try something different in the afternoon.

Expect good quality, hard-packed snow which warms and softens nicely through the day. Conditions are easy to ride and fresh falls of snow are a regular occurrence throughout summer.

Each resort offers up to 30 kms of piste for all abilities, from blue to red and 10 to 12 lifts.. There’s always a good snow park with jumps, (and normally a half pipe), and beginners can find lesson-packages, whether your goal is to learn-to-ski or develop your skiing or snowboarding skills. Lift passes and equipment hire can be arranged on arrival with your Alpine Elements Active Rep.

Lessons and lift passes

On arrival in resort our Active Reps can arrange lift pass, lessons and ski or board hire for you. They will help you get fitted for skis, furnish you with a lift pass and get orientated around the mountain.

You can choose a package of lessons from one to five days, either a group or private lesson for all abilities, beginner to expert. If you would like to book lessons please let our sales team know (when you make your initial reservation) so we can help you pre-book them and ensure good availability.
