Any questions?
Our multi-activity holidays in France offer something for everyone - be it relaxation, adventure or culture tours.
What activities can I do?
There are numerous activities in every resort, around 80 different activities to choose from. All tastes are well catered for - from calm and tranquil to adrenaline busting, and for all ages. We also offer many free activities with enough exciting pursuits for your week away which are completely free and included in our package.
How fit do I need to be?
You don't have to be a regular athlete to enjoy our holidays! Far from it in fact. There are just as many energetic activities on offer as there are sights to see and cultural things to do. The walking, rafting, biking, climbing and canyoning to name but a few are ideally suited to beginners and those with average fitness levels. Guides and instructors will help all ages for those activities that require it.
Are activity holidays family friendly?
Families and couples love our welcoming and friendly atmosphere which makes it easy for everyone to have fun. We have a free Active Club in all our main hotels where our childcare staff will ensure your little ones are mixing with others and getting the most out of their stay. Many parents choose to join in with our Active Kids Clubs which run 5-6 days a week!
Will there be enough for us to do?
A common statement among guests is that there is simply "too much to do in just one week". With so many activities on offer with our FREE Active Packs you will have more than enough for your week away. PLUS an array of other activities for kids, teenagers, adults, sightseers and adrenaline junkies which are available for a low cost in resort!
Is there a set itinerary?
Not at all! After all, you are on holiday... We give you a free bike to use and an Activity Multipass for access to the mountain facilities, culture sights and Lifts, so you are free to explore the resort: get out of bed when you want, do what you want and relax in your own time. The only set time is for dinner and each evening we serve a 3 or 4 course menu in our lovely, convivial alpine hotels.
Is the mountain biking for me?
The great thing about all of our resorts is that not only do they have the best riding in the world, but they also have a huge network of beginner trails for ALL abilities. Green and blue bike trails run round each resort and even the famous downhill courses have 'chicken runs' for relative newbies to have a go*. Our resort staff will help you get started in resort and supply you with a map and clear guide of which areas of the mountain are best suited to you.
* A chicken run can be found on many of the popular downhill tracks. They are easy routes around difficult sections so that everyone can experience the thrill of Downhill mountain biking. We do advise renting one of our pro bikes for downhill.
What is an alpine hotel like?
An Alpine Hotel is much like a regular hotel but with a warm and friendly atmosphere, a central location in amongst beautiful surroundings with facilities to give you a great holiday: mountain bikes, pro bike hire, Activity Reps, Active Kids Clubs, sunny gardens, stunning views, Wi-fi, superb catering, and many have swimming pool, some have hot tub and even sauna!
What sort of weather should I expect?
The French Alps would not make such a popular summer holiday destination if the weather wasn't hot! The Alps are quite southern in location and the ambient temperature is (on average) between 24C and 34C during July and August. In common with the Mountain we do get localised Thunder storms but rain is often short lived and quickly gives way to the sun again. The hottest resorts are Tignes and Val d'isere which have very southern locations and up to 300 days sunshine a year! Make sure you bring lots of suncream because the weather at altitude can get very hot.
What activities are included (for free)?
It changes slightly between resorts, but we aim to give you enough activities for your week away. Here's a taster of what to expect:
- 3 or 6 day mountain bike hire
- White water rafting
- Walking lift pass
- Downhill mountain bike experience (pro-bikes)
- Kayaking and paddleboarding
- Aquatic centres (swimming)
- Fitness clubs (yoga, cross-fit, jogging, stretch & relax)
- 6-day Multi Activity
- Active Kids Clubs (4-16yrs)

Summer Alps: Brand History
Our summer programme started in 2001, three years after we started our main winter ski business in 1997/98. Our Summer Alpine brand started with just one chalet, chalet Well in Morzine. We filled the chalet mainly with Mountain bikers and offered white water rafting as an add-on for the middle of the week. We dealt with around 100 customers that first summer.
In those days we were allowed to do bike guiding and we took the guests off on day rides which they loved. We had a really tailored product for bikers which ran under the brand “All Mountain Lodge”. We had two minibuses all branded up and a bike trailer to do early season uplifts when the lifts were closed, thereby giving us a long 14 week season.
In those days Morzine had not adopted the “all-round family-style” of holiday, so it was just bikers. And as biking was quite new to the Alps, the clients were few and far between!
In fact, to this day various heads of other companies often come to me and say “how do you do it?” and “How do you find a market in the Alps?” Inferring that they have tried, but can’t do it!
