Morzine

Morzine is in the heart of the Portes du Soleil and one of the prettiest mountain towns in the Alps. It buzzes with life and oozes charm and alpine-chic from its quaint chalet-style architecture. There’s a plethora of bars, cafes, cultural sites and shopping for a truly all-round alpine break.

If you love being active and love the outdoors then you’ll feel right at home in Morzine, whether you’re an active family or an adrenaline enthusiast. Morzine has a myriad of fun activities in its mountains, forests and lakes that’ll make you wish you had two weeks to discover its full potential.

Being situated on the French-Swiss border it’s a very diverse, very vast and very scenic outdoor playground which enjoys a hot and sunny climate and the largest network of lifts in the Alps serving hundreds of miles of biking and walking trails on the same lift pass.

        About Morzine

At the far end of a beautiful Savoyard valley, Morzine is surrounded by an abundance of freshwater rivers and lush mountain greenery. Its extensive summer lift system (largest in the Alps) opens a vast network of trails for walkers and bikers of all ability.

Morzine is rightly seen by many as the premier summer alpine destination. It has a very British presence and is rarely matched in terms of facilities, activities, shops, bars and cultural sites; so it appeals to all tastes.

            Where is it?

Morzine is just an hour from Geneva airport and situated in the heart of the beautiful Portes du Soleil, or ‘Gateway of the sun’. This vast mountain playground spans the Franco-Swiss border - covering no less than 12 alpine villages - and is Europe’s premier alpine destination.

For Self Drives: Morzine is 7 or 8 hours’ drive south-east of Calais. It’s an easy drive down and our holidays start on a Sunday, so many guests enjoy a stopover on the way.

            • Self drives: 7-8 hours drive from Calais
            • Fly to Geneva (Gatwick, Luton, Edinburgh, Bristol, Liverpool)
            • Flight time: 1 hr 20m; Transfer 1 hr

            The Activities

With over 80 activities on offer, Morzine is a popular destination for all tastes. Our holidays come with more than enough free activities for your week away; like white water rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, paddle boarding and access to the excellent Aquatic centres.

Our free Active Packs will keep you busy enough, but if you’ve got any spare time the area is renowned for its Via Ferrata, Canyoning, Parapenting and horse riding.

            Mountain & Road Biking

The Alps are famous for their mountain biking and Morzine is the number one bike destination in Europe! You have access to 25 lifts and nearly 1000 Km’s of trails, so you’ll never have to spend time pushing your bike uphill, when you could be flying down the other way! Morzine is also a mecca for road bikers and regularly hosts a stage of the Tour de France, so expect many great road-rides for all levels of fitness.

Come and sample some of the best and most extensive bike terrain in Europe: from awe inspiring Cross Country routes through forests and along high mountain paths; to the bike parks and Downhill courses with their banks, berms, jumps and drops, (for more confident riders!).

Families and beginners If you’re a beginner or family, then fear not, Morzine has got you covered! It’s the perfect place to learn to ride high mountain trails (using the lifts) and you can experience the thrill of taking a gondola lift to the top and riding downhill all the way, choosing the easy-graded, and well marked, green trails!

            More about Morzine biking

            Child & Family

Morzine is a great spot for the family who wants to explore the mountains in summer with lots of family activities and biking for families. It has a great family vibe and plenty of (not-so-active) cultural things to do for families. Only an hour from the airport also means no lengthy, excitement-sapping transfers!

The Alps are made for families to share activities together, but when parents need a breather our Active Kids Club for 4-16 year olds are open five days a week. We offer free half-day sessions of club - which is just enough time to give you some well-earned time to unwind while your youngsters can make new friends and tire themselves out trying fun activities run by our Active Kids Club Leaders.
